Design
Our removable packraft skeg is designed to be lightweight and long lasting. Packrafts tend to turn when paddling; a skeg reduces this yawing and increases your paddling efficiency. What is a skeg?
Take care in shallow water, as the skeg can catch and damage both your packraft and the skeg.
The skeg is included with the Paddle Ready+ and Paddle Ready+ TIZIP. The Paddle Ready comes with the skeg attachment already fitted.

Attaching the skeg to another packraft
If your raft does not already have a skeg attachment, you will need the attachment piece and an inflatable boat adhesive. The Aquasure we sell is NOT a suitable adhesive for this, as it will not be strong enough under stress. We suggest this Inflatable Boat PVC Adhesive, available in the UK. If you are based in Europe, try Helaplast adhesive.
Mark where the skeg will go: the centre of the stern (rear) gives the best paddling efficiency. Use the attachment piece as an outline and mark around it with a non-permanent pen.
Following the adhesive's instructions, apply it to the attachment piece in the area shown in blue below, avoiding the white dotted area. Then apply adhesive to the marked area on your raft, again avoiding the area where the attachment piece will sit.
Place the attachment piece on the marked area, adhesive to adhesive. Weight it down on a flat surface and leave to dry as per the adhesive's instructions (usually 24 hours). Then slide the skeg into the attachment piece so you know how it fits before your next paddle.
