These terms and conditions constitute an agreement between you and Iron Raft Ltd. By using this website and making purchases from Iron Raft Ltd you agree to these terms and conditions. Iron Raft Ltd may change these terms at any time. Please review these terms often to ensure you are aware of any changes made by Iron Raft Ltd. These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom.

WARNING: Packrafting is an inherently dangerous activity that can lead to serious injury or death. By purchasing or using an Iron Raft Ltd packraft, you agree to these Terms and Conditions, including the assumption of all risks associated with packrafting. Always use proper safety gear and judgment when packrafting.
1. Acceptance of Risk and User Responsibility
Legal Clause: The purchaser and any user of our packrafts acknowledges that packrafting is a hazardous “water contact sport” with inherent risks, including the possibility of personal injury, property damage, and death. By completing a purchase or using an Iron Raft Ltd packraft, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with its use. This assumption of risk applies even if the dangers result from unforeseen equipment issues or user error.
Plain English (What this means: You understand that using a packraft can be dangerous – you could get hurt, damage your belongings, or even die. When you buy or use our packraft, you are accepting these risks and agreeing that you are responsible for your own safety.)*
User’s Duty of Care: You agree to use the packraft safely and responsibly, following all product instructions and safety guidelines. You are solely responsible for evaluating the water conditions, your skill level, and the proper technique required for safe packrafting. Iron Raft Ltd cannot judge or control your usage, and we cannot assess your skill or judgment on the water. It is your responsibility to decide if you are capable of using the packraft in any given environment and to exercise due care at all times.
Plain English: (You must use common sense and follow guidelines when using the packraft. We don’t know how experienced you are – only you can decide if it’s safe to go on a particular river or in certain weather. Take care of yourself and don’t do anything beyond your abilities.)*
2. Safety Precautions and Instructions
Legal Clause: You agree that before use you will read and adhere to all safety precautions provided by Iron Raft Ltd (including those in our Safety Precautions document and any manuals or inserts). You will use appropriate safety equipment (for example, a suitable personal flotation device/lifejacket, helmet, proper clothing) at all times when packrafting. Failure to follow safety instructions or to use common safety measures increases the risk of harm, for which you accept full responsibility. Iron Raft Ltd shall not be liable for any injuries, losses, or damages resulting from your failure to follow safety guidelines or improper use of the product.
Plain English: (Follow all the safety rules and instructions we give you. Always wear a lifejacket and other recommended gear. If you ignore safety advice or misuse the packraft, and something bad happens, that’s on you, not us.)*
Proper Use Only: Our packrafts are designed for recreational water use by individuals with appropriate knowledge or training. They are not intended for extreme conditions (e.g. whitewater above your skill level) or as a substitute for professional equipment in commercial settings. You must not modify the packraft or use it for stunts, inappropriate activities, or in ways other than intended. Using the product in abnormal or unintended ways (including modifying it) voids any warranty and means you assume all liability for any results. Always inspect the packraft before each use to ensure it is in good condition and safe to use.
Plain English: (Only use the packraft the way it’s meant to be used – for personal recreational paddling within safe limits. Don’t try crazy stunts or alter the boat. Check it for damage each time. If you use it wrongly or change it and something goes wrong, it’s your responsibility.)*
3. Limitation of Liability
Extent of Company Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, Iron Raft Ltd shall not be liable for any harm, injury, death, loss, or damage arising from the use or misuse of our packrafts. This includes liability for accidents, drowning, hypothermia, impact injuries, or property damage that may occur while using the packraft. You use our products at your own risk and are solely responsible for your actions on the water. Iron Raft Ltd will not be responsible for any indirect or consequential losses resulting from product use (for example, lost profits, loss of enjoyment, or incidental expenses).
No Liability for Unforeseeable or Third-Party Causes: Iron Raft Ltd is not liable for any loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable at the time of sale, or for incidents caused by your own negligence, misuse, or failure to follow instructions. If you lend or provide the packraft to another person, you are responsible for ensuring that person understands the risks and proper use. Iron Raft Ltd will not be liable for injuries or damages suffered by any third party using the product.
Cannot Exclude Certain Liability: Nothing in these Terms and Conditions will limit or exclude Iron Raft Ltd’s liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law. In other words, if we as a company are directly at fault due to our negligence or a breach of our legal duties, we do not hide from liability. However, aside from such legally mandated responsibilities, we do not accept any other liability.
Plain English: (We’re not responsible if you get hurt or something gets damaged while you’re using our packraft – you’re accepting that risk. We won’t pay for things that we couldn’t have predicted when you bought the packraft, and we won’t be responsible for accidents that happen because you or someone else used the packraft in the wrong way. However, if we seriously mess up (for example, we did something legally wrong that causes injury), these terms won’t protect us – we’re not allowed to avoid that.)*
4. Warranties and Statutory Rights
Iron Raft Ltd warrants that the packrafts supplied are of satisfactory quality and fit for general purpose as required by law. We do not make any other guarantees or promises about the product’s performance or safety beyond what is provided by law. All implied warranties are disclaimed to the fullest extent allowed, except your statutory rights which are not affected. For example, under UK consumer law you have certain rights (such as products being as described and free from defects); nothing in these Terms will affect those rights. If you believe a product is defective or not as described, please contact us for a remedy.
Plain English: (We promise the packraft will be of acceptable quality and match its description – basically what the law already says. We’re not giving any extra promises beyond that. If something is wrong with the product itself, you have rights under law to get it fixed or replaced, and these terms don’t take those rights away.)*
5. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales (and applicable UK consumer protection laws). This means any contract made by purchasing our products is under these laws. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales (unless you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in which case you may choose the local courts there).
Plain English: (The rules of England and Wales apply to this agreement. If we have a legal dispute, it will be handled in UK courts close to where you live or in England.)*
6. Other Important Terms
-
Severability: If any part of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable by a court, that specific part can be removed or adjusted, and the rest of the Terms will still apply. (In plain words: if one part of this contract doesn’t hold up legally, the rest is still in effect.)
-
No Waiver: If Iron Raft Ltd doesn’t enforce a part of these Terms at any time, it doesn’t mean we waive our right to enforce it later. (Plain English: if we don’t immediately act on something you or we breach, we can still act on it in the future.)
-
No Third-Party Rights: These Terms are an agreement between you (the customer) and Iron Raft Ltd. No other person or company has any rights to enforce any term of this agreement. (In plain terms: it’s just between us and you.)
-
Consent and Acknowledgment: By checking the acceptance box at checkout or otherwise indicating agreement, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions, including the liability waivers and risk warnings. You agree that this electronic consent is equivalent to a signature and creates a binding contract.

Liability
Due to the nature of our products, some purchased items are required to be assembled into a useable product by the customer. Iron Raft Ltd has no way to monitor the quality and craftsmanship of the customers assembled product. It is the users responsibility to decide if the finished product is fit for their intended use. In no event shall Iron Raft Ltd or any of it’s representatives be liable for any loss, damage, harm of health, injury or death in relation to the use of any product constructed from items purchased from Iron Raft Ltd.
Our self-build packraft kit requires a significant amount of time and attention to detail in order to construct it. Assembly is the sole responsibility of the purchaser and will depend entirely upon the purchasers ability to achieve robust, airtight seams through heat sealing.
Packrafting and associated activities can be dangerous and can potentially result in injury or death. It is the individual’s own responsibility to fully accept all risks, damages, injury or death which may result from such activities. Evaluate your experience honestly before you putting yourself in a dangerous position and seek qualified instruction. Please see our Safety Precautions and Warnings for more information (linked at the bottom of this page).
